About Graeme
I have been a Curriculum Manager and English Lecturer in Adult Education for over 20 years, and taught in secondary schools before that. I have full Qualified Teacher Status certified by the Department for Education (UK). I live with my own experiences of Dyslexia and ADHD, and have learnt over the years how to work around and cope with my differences to become a successful and high-achieving student and teacher. I graduated with BA (Hons) in English from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and hold a Post-Graduate Teaching Qualification from the University of Durham. In 2017, I completed a research-based Doctorate in Education at the University of Warwick.

I believe in setting homework and providing full developmental feedback. I have worked with a very wide range of learners over the years and have a fine track-record in establishing engaging and successful learning relationships. I have both personal and professional experience of Dyslexia and other Specific Learning Difficulties.

Perfect! Graeme shared especially helpful insights into a number of potential underlying causes behind ADHD, which helped me better understand my struggles. He was especially friendly and able to translate complex specialist terminology into concepts and analogies which I could understand. Thank you!
- Richard is a such an intelligent and interesting person to speak to, I'd almost do all our sessions for free! (Almost). It is a pleasure to have a student so committed, focused and questioning. Challenging in all the right ways; it's a delight working with him.Graeme's response :

"Since becoming your student, your teaching methods have made me fall in love with English. Your explanations and the tips you provided throughout the class have greatly helped me answer each question effectively."
I was in Graeme's "Introduction to GCSE English" class - I really enjoyed his style of teaching the language including its history, and he teaches to a high standard.
I would highly recommend Graeme as a tutor. One of the best teachers that I ever have, best among teachers
Graeme helped me prepare for GCSE English. He was very approachable and helped me to go on and be confident enough to continue with my education.
I would be pleased to recommend him to anyone else who needed help.I fully recommend to anyone who is looking to undergo their learning journey with Dr Graeme, I really like the nurturing aspect of teaching methods he provides in the classroom. I wanted to take this moment to express my gratitude for the exceptional education and support I received at the classroom. It has a positive impact on my learning development. Graeme employs a variety of teaching methods tailored to meet the diverse needs of his students, ensuring that each individual can grasp complex concepts and achieve their personal best.
I first met him at brush up your English first class. I met him again at introduction to GCSE class and now I have passed GCSE assessment test thanks for his help.Super kind, friendly, energetic, encouraging and supportive teacher I had ever known so greatful for the opportunity to be a part in a learning journey as today I am able to be in my preferred University. Thank you so much for trusting and believing me.
I have known Graeme for about ten years. He was one of our illustrious English managers at Coventry Adult Education Service and, although I am a maths tutor, I attended some of his classes in the capacity of learner support assistant. I was amazed: Graeme has an unrivalled knowledge of his subject and also classical history and has the ability to capture students' attention and make his subject come alive. I think he would be a brilliant SuperProf!
he is good teacher. His way of teaching is wonderful. He is patient and organised he is a very interesting person with whom I can have intelligent discussions about topics
He’s got patience like no other
Comprehends various students learning techniques and tries to incorporate multiple ways of learning in his lessons for everyone’s benefit.
Great tutor.I worked with Graeme as a peer from 2008 - 2018 and then as his manager until I retired in August 2022.
He has extensive experience in working within the English management team: delivery of Adult National Curriculum, management of Functional Skills courses (including covering classes for absent staff), GCSE teaching since 2009 (including administration of initial assessment which he marked and then gave fed back to potential learners, and delivery of a pre-GCSE 6-week 'taster' course for learners who were unsure as to whether they were ready for the full course). He has conscientiously attended all trainings and updates through turbulent changes to qualifications and additional needs processes. He managed staff and learners through the pandemic, ensuring support was delivered and qualifications achieved.
As Graeme's line manager, it was a privilege to observe his teaching. He engaged learners with creative sessions and gave focussed, structured feedback towards progression. Graeme is committed to his students, giving one-to-one tutorials where needed and/or requested by the learners. He is a teacher with breadth of experience and literary knowledge and I commend him to you.
