Biochemistry students and pre-med applicants often assume organic chemistry is about memorization, but that approach leads to failure during the MCAT. I teach based on my MD from Stanford School of Medicine, focusing strictly on high-yield AAMC testing patterns. My 3 years of experience have shown that building molecular fluency is more effective than rote recall. A-level chemistry students find that my direct, DO-track focused method changes their perspective on functional groups entirely.
Retrosynthesis and radical reactions require a surgical mental framework to master effectively. You will learn to parse amines, carboxylic acids, carbonyl chemistry, alcohols, and ethers with logic instead of guesswork.
