About Valerie
Fumbling with chord changes creates a physical wall between you and the music you enjoy. Imagine the feeling of a clean, resonant power chord vibrating through your fingertips without any muted strings. My lessons emphasize hands-on technique, whether we are exploring blues progressions or complex soloing. I provide custom backing tracks so you can practice your improvisation at home.
After 13 years of teaching, I know how to make music theory feel like a creative tool instead of a chore. I hope you find as much joy in the process as I do.

I teach because music transforms the way people perceive their own potential. A young student once struggled with a simple barre chord until we connected the rhythm to a song they loved.
My background includes a MA from McGill and CELTA certification, which informs how I break down complex concepts like music theory and improvisation. I work primarily with returning learners, kids, and teens who want to master electric technique or blues progressions. It is common for students to feel overwhelmed by reading tabs or mastering chord transitions at first.
My approach focuses on steady, incremental progress rather than rushing through the basics. I bring 13 years of experience to help you navigate power chords and songwriting. Over 442 students have passed through my studio doors to find their sound.
Tuning and maintenance are also key parts of our journey. I am here to help you keep playing.
