About the lesson

This syllabus is structured to follow the AP Biology framework, emphasizing the progression from molecular foundations to systemic ecological interactions. Each unit is sequenced to maximize the "scaffolding" of concepts, ensuring that your understanding of biological systems grows cumulatively. However it will have college level detail, and connection to human anatomy and physiology

Properties of water and biological macromolecules (lipids, carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids).

The structure and function of DNA and RNA.

Unit 2: Cell Structure & Function

Organelle specialization and cellular compartmentalization.

Membrane dynamics, permeability, and transport mechanisms.

Unit 3: Cellular Energetics

Enzyme kinetics and metabolic pathways.

Photosynthesis: Harvesting energy from light.

Cellular Respiration: Extracting chemical energy (ATP).

Phase II: Communication, Reproduction & Heredity
Understanding how cells manage information and propagate life.

Unit 4: Cell Communication & the Cell Cycle

Signal transduction pathways and feedback mechanisms.

Regulation of the cell cycle, mitosis, and the role of apoptosis.

Unit 5: Heredity
