About Ariel
Hi!! My name is Ariel! I have taught ELA and ESL in all subject areas for over 20 years in the New York City public school system. During that time, I developed expertise in both traditional and alternative approaches to language development and learning. Throughout the pandemic I worked successfully with students online in whole class, small group, and one-on-one settings, and maintained the rapport, quality and consistency necessary for student success. I have a BA in Liberal Arts from Hampshire College, an MA in TESOL from CUNY Lehman, and an MEd in school leadership from Columbia University.
I believe that positive, professional relationships are the key to learning. I take pride in the positive relationships I have with students while they meet their learning goals, which include academics and study/organizational skills. Many of my former students have stayed in touch throughout college and graduate school and have contacted me for help as they navigate post-secondary level assignments. As a professional, I am a creative thinker and obsessive problem solver, and work tirelessly to unlock learning for my students. During the pandemic, my diligence as a teacher, creative approach and relationships yielded highly successful results for my students while working remotely.

I take pride in creating a safe, friendly and productive atmosphere while engaging a holistic, student-centered approach. I have a vast repertoire of research-proven strategies and practices that can be tailored to meet students’ individual needs. I believe that every human is unique in their abilities and learning styles, and it is the role of the teacher to meet students where they are. People learn better when they feel good and have the confidence to take on productive challenges.
