Everyone learns differently. That's why I make sure to help each student with their individual needs. I take time listening to you and help you fully understand each idea we cover. If you already have some experience playing chess, let's talk and find out what you can improve on.

I help beginners understand the main ideas behind each move they make. As a former educator, I believe in teaching big picture ideas instead of simple move order.
Over my 20+ years of playing chess, I've competed at a number of tournaments, occasionally coming in at 1st place.
Besides chess, I enjoy writing, playing guitar, and procrastinating. I earned my Graduate Degree in English Lit in 2019 and am currently a freelance writer.
First lesson is free! Will teach remotely, or at a public location in the Asheville area.
