About D’onyx

Hi, I’m D’onyx! I’m 25 and currently based in London where I work as a sports referee.

I began playing volleyball in college at 18, as a complete beginner. My dedication led to the sport, landed me an invitation to the Waltham Forest Volleyball Club, where I competed in Division 2 of the London Volleyball Association during the 2018-2019 season.

I then studied Sports Science at St. Mary’s University from 2019 to 2022, where I competed in the BUCS league in our women’s volleyball team.

Training alongside top regional players and with those who have helped me along my path in volleyball, I’ve developed a passion for teaching the sport. I am enthusiastic about helping beginners master the fundamentals of volleyball and build their skills on the court, whilst fostering an environment of fun!

About the lesson

With my volleyball private tutoring I’ll help you master the volleyball basics with a strong focus on:
- Digging/passing, Setting & Spiking
- Serving
- Blocking
**Defensive focus - keeping the ball off of the floor**
- Rotations (adjusted to level of play)
- Volleyball Rules

I break down *why* each skill matters and *how* it makes you a better player. With strong defensive experience as part of being an outside hitter, I’ll share the key insights needed to excel on the court!

Session Structure
Here’s a little take on what a tutoring session with me would look like:
- Warm-up
- Focus on a specific skill(s)
- Brief explanation of focus skill(s) & it’s importance
- Skill practice
- Key tips provided based on observation
- Application of tips during practice
- Task assignment to complete by the next session

Sessions with me are engaging and hands-on— so expect a mix of learning, practice, and fun tips to keep you improving and excited about your game!
