About Mac Larenz

Hi! I’m Mac Larenz, a DOST-SEI Scholar and Industrial Engineering student with a strong academic background and a passion for communication, leadership, and helping others learn.

I graduated as Valedictorian from the Sisters of Mary School–Boystown, Cebu, where I was also recognized as Best Student Teacher and Best in Research. My experience extends beyond the classroom: I participated in IDEX at Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) in Singapore, giving me valuable international exposure and opportunities to interact with students from different backgrounds.

I have also developed my leadership and communication skills through the Aspire Leaders Program, a Harvard-affiliated leadership development program. As a student ambassador, host, and public speaker, I have represented my school to both local and international donors and benefactors, strengthening my confidence in communicating with diverse audiences.

As a tutor, I bring together academic discipline, international exposure, leadership experience, and a genuine desire to help students improve. I aim to create a friendly and supportive environment where students can ask questions freely, learn from mistakes, and build confidence while developing their skills.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is practical, engaging, and personalized to each student’s needs. I believe English is best learned by actually using it, so my lessons combine conversation, guided practice, vocabulary building, grammar, pronunciation, and real-life communication.

A typical lesson begins with a short conversation or review, followed by the main topic and guided exercises. We then apply what we learned through speaking activities, discussions, or practical situations, with constructive feedback throughout the lesson.

What sets me apart is my experience in hosting, public speaking, academic competitions, and communicating with different people. I have been using and developing my English communication skills since high school, and I understand that students can know the grammar but still struggle to speak confidently.

My lessons are suitable for elementary and high school students, beginners, students who want to improve their conversational English, and anyone who wants to become more confident in speaking and expressing their ideas.
