About Derek

My name is Derek, and I have been a professional tutor for over 7 years. I have a degree in both cognitive science and mathematics from UC Berkeley (CAL) and the University of Oregon (UO) respectively.

I am considered a high energy and empathetic person; and I am able to make any student laugh with me.

Tutoring math (and science) is not only my profession, it is my passion. I love that "ah ha" feeling, and I love having my students experience that feeling the most.

When I am not tutoring or working I enjoy walking my 2 year old black pug, reading, and playing some games.

About the lesson

I like to act as a coach or personal trainer on you academic journey: your successes are my successes as well! We learn from each other and that way we can both be invested in the material.

I have tutored many different people from all walks of life. I have experience tutoring persons with disabilities, athletes, priorities other than school, and the student that want to get ahead.

I am fully integrated to the online platform, and you will receive notes from your lesson after each session.
