My teaching method is based on practicality. I assess my students' abilities AND goals and plan lessons accordingly. For example, a lesson for a high-school student who is planning to audition for a college music program will be entirely different from a lesson for an adult who wants to learn the drum set just for fun!
I use different approaches to accommodate different learning styles and I am very patient and friendly. A particular approach I am fond of is the Socratic Method!
I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts in Percussion Performance and Literature from the University of Illinois.
I have taught percussion at the college level and through private lessons for over 20 years. My students have been of all ages and experience levels! I especially enjoy teaching beginners! No experience is necessary!
