About Alma

Hi, I’m Alma—a full-time dual enrollment student at Florida International University pursuing a degree in Biochemistry while finishing high school. I specialize in tutoring math for middle and high school students, including Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and SAT preparation.

As someone who balances high school and college-level STEM coursework, I understand what it takes to succeed in challenging subjects. My goal is to help students not only improve their grades but also build confidence in their problem-solving skills. I explain concepts clearly, break down complex ideas step-by-step, and adjust my teaching style to fit each student’s unique needs.

My sessions are structured, engaging, and designed to support both struggling learners and those aiming to get ahead. You can count on me to be patient, encouraging, and professional in every lesson.

English

As a dual enrollment student at Florida International University pursuing a degree in Biochemistry while completing high school, I bring a strong foundation in both advanced mathematics and science-based problem solving. My teaching approach is built on patience, clarity, and adaptability—I focus on understanding how a student learns and tailor my explanations to match their learning style.

A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous material to reinforce understanding, followed by guided practice with new concepts. I use real-life examples from science and medicine to make abstract math problems more relatable, especially for students interested in STEM. We wrap up each session with a summary and practice problems to reinforce key takeaways.

I understand the challenges students face because I’m a student too—just one who’s passionate about making math less intimidating and more intuitive.

These lessons are perfect for middle and high school students taking Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, or AP-level math, especially those preparing for SATs or considering STEM majors in college.
