About Katherine
I am a Durham University Politics graduate with a degree in Politics and International Relations. I have an exceptional academic record including three A*s at A-Level and a top upper second in my degree, including a first-class dissertation. I have a background in tutoring GCSE level children and working with younger children with learning disabilities. As a dyslexic myself, I have worked out a series of learning techniques that cater to those with special learning needs, particularly those who struggle with the exam technique.

My teaching method is based on foregrounding the specific 'tick boxes' considered by assessors, taking the marking criteria as the basis for every lesson. This is especially helpful for those who struggle with structure in their work, the most important element to being successful at GCSE and A-Level. My teaching is similarly based around compartmentalising topics to aid retention, presenting information in manageable sections that can easily be translated into essay form.
Overall I would consider my demeanour whilst teaching to be kind but firm. It is important to retain mutual respect, creating a positive learning environment through a calm conversational tone. However, students will be expected to be active participants in their learning and complete tasks to the correct deadline and standard.
