Background

I'm American -- born and raised in Chicago; degree in Political Science from Northwestern University; and have lived in New York all my adult life. I speak Spanish, French, Portuguese, and German -- and bits and pieces of other languages because I love being able to converse with people from everywhere. Before teaching, I was a published writer of children's books and gift books. Teaching, writing, reading, languages, and having interesting conversations with a wide variety of students provide work and meaning to my life.
