About Preston
I am a committed Saxophone tutor with 17+ years of teaching experience and around 150 successful students trained across all levels. Teaching music gives me great satisfaction because I enjoy helping students discover their musical abilities and grow with confidence.
My teaching approach focuses on building strong fundamentals first. I train students in correct posture, breath control, embouchure, tone clarity, finger coordination, and rhythm accuracy. Once the basics are strong, I introduce music theory, scales, improvisation techniques, and performance skills. I make sure students understand not just how to play, but why they are playing certain notes.
I believe communication is key in learning. I explain concepts in simple ways and adapt my teaching to match each student’s learning style. Some students need more demonstrations, while others prefer written exercises or listening practice. I also use backing tracks and real song examples to make lessons interesting.
One of my unique skills is helping students overcome stage fear and build performance confidence. I encourage regular practice habits and set small goals that lead to big progress. My aim is to develop skilled, expressive, and confident saxophone players.

I follow a practical and progressive methodology while teaching Saxophone, centered on Communication, Accountability, and Integrity. I begin with breathing exercises and long-tone practice to develop a controlled, rich sound. As students progress, I introduce scales, articulation exercises, rhythm control, and expressive phrasing.
I explain the purpose of each exercise so students understand its impact on both technique and musicality. Weekly structured goals maintain accountability and steady progress. I monitor performance carefully and provide honest guidance. Integrity ensures patience, dedication, and professional support. Along with Saxophone lessons, I teach Music Theory, Jazz fundamentals, Ensemble skills, and Stage Performance preparation.
