About Margaret
I plan lessons for each individual student and provide motivation in a playful and focused way. Barton Reading is the curriculum I teach from; it is based on the Orton-Gillingham method. Watching a student overcome difficulties in reading or math, and to master their needed skills, regularly brings me joy. Each student has strengths and weaknesses. A dyslexic student often has a strong ability in some area, or an exceptional interest, which I refer to as "superpowers." It is important to notice a student's strengths, and to provide consistent encouragement for them.

Most often, I work with children in my home office, which actually looks like a small classroom: with a whiteboard, plenty of books and resources on shelves, pencils and markers, and a shelf with stuffed animals!
