About Andrew

I want to assure you that you're in capable hands. My legitimacy stems from a robust academic background, including a Ph.D. in Computing with a specialization in Computational Science, Mathematics, and Engineering from Boise State University. This rigorous training, coupled with my Bachelor's in Physics from Kennesaw State University, provides a comprehensive understanding of the subjects I tutor. Professionally, I bring real-world experience from my roles as a Postdoctoral Appointee and Graduate Research Intern at Sandia National Laboratory. There, I designed and developed high-performance computing software for complex scientific simulations, including pioneering work with Particle-in-Cell plasma models and meshfree approaches. I am dedicated to providing a supportive, effective, and highly professional learning environment. My goal is to equip you with not just answers, but a deep, lasting understanding of the material, empowering you to tackle future challenges with confidence.

My tutoring approach emphasizes active learning, conceptual understanding, and problem-solving. I use a method of guided questioning to encourage critical thinking and real-world analogies and mistake-driven learning to guide students. A typical session involves a warm-up, concept exploration, collaborative problem-solving, and practice assignments.
What sets me apart is my Ph.D. in Computing with extensive experience in high-performance computing and numerical methods for PDEs, like meshfree approaches and Particle-in-Cell models. This allows me to explain complex topics with clarity and connect them to broader scientific contexts. I patiently adapt to individual learning styles, focusing on building strong foundational understanding, not just rote memorization. My lessons are ideal for university students in mathematics, physics, engineering, and computational science, or anyone needing to strengthen quantitative skills.
