About Alana
I have taken courses including general, organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, and medicinal chemistry, as well as toxicology and biochemistry. I contributed to several research papers during my graduate studies, including a first author paper on NMR spectroscopy of organic semiconductors with enhanced electronic conductivity. I have earned and completed 2 National Science Foundation sponsored research programs and presented my research at local and national conferences. And as far as I can tell, my research professors have been pretty jazzed with me, and my dedication to effective scientific communication.

I enjoy finding different ways to explain chemistry concepts so that students aren’t just memorizing equations, but actually have the understanding and tools to work their way to th correct problem solving strategy. This also helps greatly for anyone with test anxiety, since memorized equations may vanish from memory under pressure, but understanding the logic behind an equation/problem solving method is a much more reliable tool.
