About Angela
I came from a small town when I attended a large university. In my hometown I was the editor of the school newspaper and yearbook staff. At the university I was a number and while I thought I could test out of English, I did not. While preparing to take the test I discovered my weaknesses, but also my ability to self-learn. I believe everyone can engage this ability to learn with dedication and support.

When starting literacy tutoring with a new student I want to know about that person's interests. While there are many formatted ways to learn to read and write; what I feel is most important is to create a reader. A person who finds pleasure in reading. I often use poetry, cartoons and materials about the person's interests, both fiction and nonfiction.
