About Charlie
I am currently a first year undergraduate reading Earth Sciences at the University of Oxford, I study a wide range of content, from linear algebra and matrix calculus to atmospheric physics, ocean chemistry and igneous geology. I am set tasks from completing mathematically based problem sheets to writing essays in the contemporary sciences. I have an analytical comprehension and wide skillset, which I can lend through tutoring.
I have always been broadly interested in the sciences, after achieving seven 9s, two 8s and one 7 at GCSE, including all 9s in STEM, I went on to study A-levels in Mathematics, Physics and Geography, achieving A*A*A. Through sitting examinations as the first year group to experience the 9-1 GCSE reform, I can lend my advice in tackling both content revision and examination technique.
I have previously tutored GCSE students in Mathematics and Physics as a part of a sixth form mentoring programme, and have since tutored students privately. As a result of this, I have experience in both motivating students to achieve passing grades (4/5), and pushing students who are aiming for the highest grades (8/9).

Previously I have tailored my teaching methods to the needs of my students. This generally begins with the student completing exam questions prior to tuition time in order for me to identify gaps in their knowledge. I find that this maximises the productivity of the first and all subsequent lessons. In addition to this, I cover any requested topics where the student may feel less confident.
From experience, I have found dividing each lesson to be highly effective. Covering content, demonstrating worked examples, and supervising independent question responses are all integral parts of each lesson. Furthermore, I find setting questions to be completed after each lesson, not only optimises lesson time, but helps to fully consolidate understanding.
