About Evelyn
I have over 5 years of experience teaching music theory, songwriting, and beginner composition through online lessons. I completed advanced studies in Music Education with a strong focus on beginner instruction, creative learning, and musical understanding.
Earlier in my career, I worked at North Star Music Learning Academy, Washington, where I taught beginner theory classes and helped students understand rhythm, notation, and harmony through easy examples. I later worked at ArtWave Performing Arts Academy, Colorado, where I supported students with songwriting projects, composition basics, and school music preparation.
These academy experiences taught me how to make theory less intimidating for beginners. I learned that students understand theory much better when it is connected to real music and explained in simple language. I received a Music Education Innovation Award for making theory lessons more creative and accessible.
I also have experience teaching online and currently work with students from various parts of the world. Teaching international students has helped me shape lessons that are clear, flexible, and easy to follow for learners with different backgrounds.

I teach music theory in a simple, practical, and beginner-friendly way. My lessons are designed for students of all ages who want to understand how music is built and how different musical ideas connect to singing and instruments.
In my music theory lessons, students can learn notation reading, rhythm structures, harmony, melody writing, chord building, songwriting, arrangement basics, composition exercises, ear training, orchestration introduction, and beginner musicology. I also help students connect theory to their piano, singing, guitar, and violin practice so the learning feels useful and real.
Many beginners feel nervous when they hear the words “music theory,” but I explain everything in a calm and easy way. My goal is to make students feel more confident and creative rather than confused.
These lessons are especially helpful for students who want a strong musical foundation and better understanding of how songs and melodies are created.
