About Thomas

As an engineering student at ECAM LaSalle, currently pursuing a dual degree at Heriot-Watt University (MSc in Robotics) in Scotland, I offer tutoring in mathematics, physics, and English for middle and high school students, as well as math support for first-year university students (post-baccalaureate, preparatory classes depending on the program). I graduated with honors from high school with a specialization in Mathematics and Physics-Chemistry, and then completed demanding scientific studies, which allows me to understand the difficulties students encounter, particularly during the transition from high school to university. I chose to tutor because I have always enjoyed explaining and helping others understand, using a clear and progressive teaching approach. My goal is not to recite a lesson, but to help students truly grasp the concepts, develop effective study methods, and gain confidence. I cater to both students experiencing difficulties and students wishing to consolidate their level or get ahead, in a serious, caring and structured environment.

About the lesson

Each session begins with a brief discussion to precisely identify any concepts that are unclear or difficulties encountered. I then take the time to re-explain the material using simple language, concrete examples, and, if necessary, a different approach than the one covered in class. Once the fundamentals are clear, the lesson quickly moves towards practical application: guided exercises, problem-solving methodologies, and then the gradual development of the student's independence. The goal is for the student to be able to independently replicate the reasoning and exercises, not simply reproduce a solution. For high school and post-secondary students, I also place particular emphasis on methodology: work organization, reading instructions, writing, time management, and preparation for tests or exams. Lessons will be conducted remotely via webcam, with screen sharing. I adapt to each student's pace and level to provide effective and personalized support.
