About Michael

I'm an experienced and approachable tutor with a background in education, programme delivery, and youth development. I bring over four years of experience working with young people in both one-to-one and group settings. My approach is calm, encouraging, and tailored to each student's needs, helping them build not only subject knowledge but also confidence and motivation. I hold a Master’s degree in Local Economic Development from LSE and a Bachelor's in Human and Economic Geography. My academic background, combined with my professional experience in mentoring and programme management, means I understand how to support different learning styles and make complex topics feel manageable. Whether your goal is to prepare for exams, catch up in class, or build stronger study habits, I create a positive and structured learning environment where students feel supported to make progress. I work with students of all abilities, particularly those aged 10–18, and I have a track record of helping learners grow in confidence and achieve their goals. My lessons are well-prepared, engaging, and always focused on the individual student.

About the lesson

I take a student-led, confidence-building approach to tutoring. My goal is to not only help students understand the subject matter but to equip them with the skills and mindset to learn independently. I aim to make lessons interactive, supportive, and tailored to each student’s learning style and goals. I begin by identifying each student’s strengths, challenges, and preferred learning methods. Lessons typically combine: Explaining core concepts in a clear, structured way Guided practice with feedback, encouraging students to talk through their thinking Targeted revision techniques, such as active recall, spaced repetition, and past paper analysis Confidence coaching, especially for students who struggle with motivation or anxiety around schoolwork I hold a Master’s Degree in Economics and Geography and have over 4 years of experience working with students at GCSE and A-Level, both one-to-one and in group settings.
