About Allan
Hello! My name is Allan, and I am from Kenya. I am a native speaker of both Kiswahili and Dholuo (Luo), and I am passionate about helping people learn languages in a fun, practical, and engaging way.
I believe that language is more than just words—it is a bridge to culture, friendship, travel, and new opportunities. That is why I enjoy teaching and sharing my language and culture with learners from around the world.
My teaching approach is student-centered, meaning that I adapt each lesson to the learner's goals, pace, and interests. Whether you want to improve your speaking skills, expand your vocabulary, understand grammar, or learn about East African culture, I will design lessons that suit your needs.
I use conversational practice, interactive exercises, reading activities, and real-life examples to make learning enjoyable and effective. I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, because I believe that confidence is key to mastering a new language.
Lessons typically last 45–60 minutes and are suitable for learners of all ages and levels—from complete beginners to advanced students looking to refine their skills.
As a native speaker with strong communication skills and a deep understanding of local culture, I can provide authentic language instruction that goes beyond textbooks. My goal is not only to teach vocabulary and grammar but also to help students communicate naturally and confidently in real-life situations.
I want to teach because I enjoy connecting with people from different backgrounds and helping them achieve their language goals. Teaching also allows me to share the richness of East African languages and culture with the world while making a meaningful impact on my students' learning journeys.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your language-learning goals. Let's learn together!

My Approach to Tutoring
I believe that learning a language should be interactive, practical, and enjoyable. My teaching approach focuses on building confidence through real-life communication rather than memorization alone. I create a friendly and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, as this is an important part of learning.
Teaching Techniques and Methodology
My lessons are tailored to each student's goals and learning style. Depending on the learner's needs, I use:
Conversational practice to improve speaking fluency and pronunciation.
Vocabulary-building exercises using everyday situations.
Reading and listening activities to strengthen comprehension skills.
Grammar explanations with practical examples.
Interactive exercises, role-plays, and cultural discussions to make learning engaging.
I emphasize consistent practice and encourage students to use the language in real-world contexts.
Typical Lesson Length
A typical lesson lasts 45 to 60 minutes, although shorter or longer sessions can be arranged based on the student's preferences and schedule.
Qualifications and Experience
I am a native speaker of Kiswahili and Dholuo (Luo), with strong communication skills and a passion for teaching languages and sharing culture. I have experience helping others improve their language skills through conversation, explanations, and personalized guidance. My literacy and cultural knowledge enable me to teach not only the language itself but also its cultural context and practical usage.
Who the Lessons Are For
My lessons are suitable for:
Beginners who are learning Kiswahili or Dholuo for the first time.
Intermediate learners seeking to improve fluency and confidence.
Travelers preparing to visit East Africa.
Students and researchers interested in African languages and cultures.
Professionals who need language skills for work or business.
Learners of all ages, from children to adults.
I strive to make every lesson engaging, effective, and adapted to each learner's individual goals.
