About Maxine
I have always studied mathematics, from primary school up until my sixth form college, primarily for the fact that I love maths. I have always found maths to be systematic and methodological. Due to my strong fondness of the subject, I have also found it very enjoyable and satisfying to teach others the various branches of this field.
I am currently an Educational Psychology undergraduate at Manchester Metropolitan University. I learn about different approaches to education and special education needs and disabilities. Not only do I get the opportunity to put these theories into practice in the education sector by teaching children but I'll be able to gain a deeper understanding of psychological cause and effect in a natural setting.

My lessons are for GCSE and A level maths students.
From the straightforward topics like algebra and fractions at the start of secondary school to the complexities of trigonometric identities and calculus at A Level, I always seem to find a way to break them down to their foundations and build them right up again. This is an ability that makes is easy for me to teach these topics to others and in the same way, transferring these skills onto them so they can understand many and almost all courses in maths.
I became a mentor in college to those who were in year 11 at the time. While involved in this mentorship program, I was required to tutor my mentee through his maths and Spanish IGCSEs, address minor social and personal problems and form a balance for him between work and play. As a psychology student then and now, I have learnt that people are different with varied emotional and psychological needs, and they need to be treated accordingly- whether that be with more or less teacher intervention or with more or less time spent working.
My lessons will range from a minimum of 40 minutes to 2 hours depending on the needs of each individual student. For example, students with shorter attention spans or students who don't need as much intervention would be recommended to have only 40 minutes-1 hour tutor sessions.
