I believe that the greatest tools I can equip my students with are the skills of critical thinking and problem solving through fundamental investigations. From the problems inherent in the understanding of certain intuitive concepts to the rigorous application of problem solving involving breaking down of the complexities to the bits, students can learn from me as much as I can from them. I take great pleasure in solving complex problems, not only because they are complex but that through those I can give the students an opportunity to gain insights to the fundamental principles that may unravel in the process. However, simple problems can show absolutely critical information too. Hence, I will design lectures that use simple examples to show the fundamental and key concepts while slowly graduating to more complex illustrations to understand and set a stage to perform detailed analysis of the problem at hand. As and when needed, lab work and literature reviews will be assigned in groups as well as individually, to provide students with hands on experience with different simulating environments, build their teamwork skills, introduce them to scientific literature and teach them to critically evaluate the acquired data. My philosophy is to approach a lecture as a dialogue between the students and myself, where participation in understanding is the key to the process of learning. I believe in the inductive teaching approach and always start each class with discussions on pre-assigned topics or challenges.
