About Tavis
Upon finishing my masters degree, I knew that I wanted to continue into a PhD and take on teaching responsibilities - one day becoming a professor if I'm lucky!
Tutoring school age pupils has been the best introduction I could have had into teaching, working with a great range of abilities and passions.
Engineering and Artificial Intelligence research has become an absolute passion of mine, both fields heavily depend on mathematics and physics concepts - so does everything really. Teaching is a very important part of research - there's no point in discovering new knowledge if you don't share it around.
So that's what I'm hoping to achieve in my tutoring, sharing what I have learnt throughout my time in education and research. Hopefully inspiring more people to consider pursuing the engineering route!

Lessons start with covering content and background knowledge for a specific topic, moving onto practice questions to use this knew information, finally covering exam style more complex questions.
Lessons generally last 1-2 hours.
I have been tutoring for a few months as part of the governments scheme to help children from disadvantaged backgrounds catch up on content they may have missed due to the pandemic. I have a Bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering and a Masters degree in Data Science, now studying towards a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Artificial Intelligence) at the University of Surrey.
My tuition is applicable for secondary school children, from KS3 to GCSE.
