About Zoey

Welcome – You're in Good Hands

I know that if you're reading this, you might be feeling a little stuck, frustrated, or even nervous about a subject. Please know that's completely okay. In fact, it's where so many of my best students start.

A little about me (and why you can trust me):
I have years of experience helping students just like you—people who were told they "aren't math people" or that science "just doesn't click" for them. I don't believe that for a second. Every student I've worked with has improved, not because I'm magic, but because I break things down until they finally make sense. I stay current with teaching methods, and I double-check everything I teach. You will never get a rushed or guessed answer from me.

How I keep our time professional and safe:

I am always prepared, on time, and respectful of your unique pace.

I explain why we solve problems a certain way, so you're never just memorizing steps.

If you don't understand something the first time (or the fifth), I will find another way to explain it. No judgment. No rushing.

Most of all, this is a warm, quiet place to struggle safely.
You don't need to have the right answer. You just need to be willing to try. I will meet you exactly where you are and help you build from there.

Whether you're barely passing and hoping to survive, or aiming for an A but feel shaky on the basics, you are welcome here. Let's figure it out together—one small, clear step at a time.

My Teaching Method & Techniques
I focus on active problem-solving rather than passive listening. I guide students through difficult problems step-by-step, asking targeted questions to uncover gaps in understanding. I use real-world examples (e.g., applying algebra to budgeting or physics to sports) to make abstract concepts tangible. When a student struggles, I offer multiple explanations—visual, verbal, or analogical—since different brains click with different approaches. I also emphasize metacognition: teaching students how to recognize why they get stuck and how to self-correct.

Typical Lesson Plan (60 minutes)

Warm-up (5 min) – Quick review of prior knowledge (e.g., a single problem or concept check).

Identify the hurdle (10 min) – Student attempts a problem while I observe their process; we pinpoint exactly where confusion begins.

Guided exploration (20 min) – We work through similar problems together, using real-world context and alternating who leads each step.

Multiple angles (15 min) – I re-explain the key concept in 2–3 different ways (e.g., a formula, a graph, and a story).

Independent practice & recap (10 min) – Student solves a new problem solo, then we summarize strategies learned.

What Sets Me Apart

Patience with “wrong answers” I treat errors as the art of learning, not failures.

Adaptability in real time where if one explanation fails, I immediately switch to another (visual, kinesthetic, or purely logical).

Focus on transferable thinking where I teach problem-solving frameworks that work across subjects, not just memorized steps.

Who These Lessons Are For

Levels: Middle school through early college (ages 12–22).

Subjects: Math, basic sciences, and college prep.

Specificities: Ideal for students who feel “stuck” despite studying—especially those who need multiple explanations or struggle with abstract concepts. Also great for learners who want to move from memorization to genuine understanding.
