I look at the problem with the student and I ask what's going on with the numbers in front of us to see if the student understands the math process we must take.
I volunteered in my children's classrooms from ages 5-14 and the teachers said I'd improved the students math scores 20-80%. I also substituted for a year and taught math in
every class I sustituted.
