About Joey

I’m Joey, an electrical engineering graduate who thrives on applying advanced mathematics to real-world problems. I took college-credit calculus in high school and scored a 32 on the ACT math section. I know firsthand how it feels when a concept just won’t click, and how good it feels when it finally does. My job is to get you there, and to show you where the math you’re learning actually gets used. I prepare for every session, show up on time, keep you updated on your progress, and adapt to your teacher’s expectations. I’m patient, encouraging, and honest: if something needs more work, I’ll tell you, and we’ll tackle it together until it clicks. Whether you need to raise a grade, prepare for a test, or simply feel less anxious about math, you’ll have someone reliable in your corner.

I’m a recent electrical engineering graduate from the University of Oklahoma, and I offer patient, structured tutoring for high school students. The subjects I can teach include Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Calculus. My approach focuses on real understanding, not just memorized steps. I walk through clear worked examples, then gradually hand the problem-solving over to you, connecting equations to graphs and real situations so the ideas make sense. A typical session starts with a quick review of past material to keep it fresh, then targets whatever you’re working on in class, with guided practice, a mix of problem types, and time to explain your reasoning out loud. We finish with a short check to see what clicked and what to revisit next time. What sets me apart is that I pay close attention to why a mistake happens and fix the underlying gap, so the same errors don’t keep coming back. I’ll adapt to your class, teacher, and pace, and my goal is for you to leave each session more confident and more independent.
