About Kathleen

Hi, I'm Kathleen, and I'm here to show you that success in math is possible, no matter where you're starting from. Back in high school, math was a real challenge for me. I understand what it feels like to struggle, feel stuck, and doubt yourself. But with the right support, I turned things around, and today, I'm studying Data Science and Statistics, building a career based on the very skills I once found difficult. Because of my journey, I teach differently. I use clear, structured explanations, real-world examples, and plenty of practice to ensure each student truly understands the material. Every lesson is personalized: We review previous work, tackle new concepts step-by-step, and finish with a quick recap and a plan for independent learning. My approach is patient, encouraging, and results-driven, focused on helping students improve their grades and gain lasting confidence. I work with elementary and high school students, from basic math foundations to pre-algebra, algebra, calculus, exam preparation, and more. Whether you're catching up, keeping up, or getting ahead, I'll meet you where you are and help you move forward with clarity and confidence.

About the lesson

My personal journey shapes my teaching approach. I use a patient, step-by-step method that breaks down complex ideas into simple, manageable parts. I focus on helping students truly understand math, not just memorize it. I blend clear explanations, real-world examples, and active problem-solving techniques to build skill and confidence.

What sets me apart is that I genuinely understand students' frustration, and I know how to help them overcome it. I create a judgment-free space where students can be curious, make mistakes, and grow. I know what it feels like to struggle with math, because I've been there. In high school, math didn't come easily to me. It was frustrating and overwhelming at times. But with the proper support and strategies, I turned things around. Today, I'm proud to be studying Data Science and Statistics, fields that rely on the very skills I once found so challenging.

A typical lesson starts by revisiting what the student already knows, then gently introduces new concepts through guided examples and practice problems. I always leave time for questions, discussion, and setting small goals for independent practice.

My lessons are designed for elementary to high school students, covering the basics, pre-algebra, algebra, calculus, test preparation, and more.
