About Emily
I have 12 years of FT classroom teaching and tutoring in Writing, Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies. I pride myself on helping students gain confidence in their own abilities. I have taught in the Baltimore City Public Schools and in a private school in Owings Mills. Fun fact: I have also worked in publishing and as a field archaeologist!

Depending on the subject, my approach varies, however I always use the Socratic method of questioning, which assumes all of my students are prepared. I choose students at random to answer questions. When my students know they'll be called on at some point each class, they tend to prepare more and this stimulates more critical thinking and better dialogue. I also know that all students can learn and I show my students that by using this methodology.

Details
Middle school writing lessons/tutoring will be $50/hr and Algebra tutoring will be $40/hr.
If you cannot attend the session online, please give me 24 hours notice. An email is sufficient to let me know that your plans have changed. If you do not, I allow one forgiveness. The second missed lesson without 24 hours notice, I will expect compensation for.
