About Tamaya

I am a passionate educator with a decade of child experience. I enjoy anime, making music, hibachi, and my favorite colors are green and brown. My love for students goes beyond the classroom. My Bachelor's in Elementary Education allows me to observe and meet students where they are academically. It has also allowed me to start a tutoring business on my own. Taking time to see the whole child, not just their academics is important to me. I want to know what things they enjoy and dislike. Children deserve to be heard and seen. I am confident that their outlook of themselves will continue to positively grow as they are acknowledged as a scholar and as a child.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is student-centered, engaging, and confidence-building. I believe every child learns differently, so I tailor each session to the student’s learning style, pace, and academic needs. I use a combination of guided practice, visual supports, hands-on activities, and positive reinforcement to strengthen understanding and retention.

I focus on building strong foundational skills in reading and math while also developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning habits. Sessions are structured yet supportive, creating a safe space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.

A Typical Lesson Plan:
Each session follows a consistent structure to maximize learning and progress:

Warm-Up (5–10 min): Review of previously learned skills or quick practice activity

Guided Practice (30–40 min): Tutor-supported activities to apply the targeted skill

Independent Practice (10-15 min): Student demonstrates understanding

Wrap-Up & Feedback (5 min): Progress notes, encouragement, and parent update

Lessons are adjusted based on the student’s goals, school curriculum, and pace of mastery.
