About Rachel
I’m an Elementary Learning Specialist currently on leave to be home with my youngest baby. I’m offering after school tutoring in my home in Tigard for elementary students needing extra support with reading (my favorite!), writing and math. I have over 10 years of experience working with students on IEPs, both as a preschool special education teacher and as an elementary learning specialist. I’m a mom to neurodivergent kiddos and have extensive experience with making accommodations and modifications to meet the needs of various students. I love teaching, and can’t wait to support your student!

Reading: Instruction focuses on phonics, decoding, reading comprehension and fluency for elementary students. I use the UFLI Curriculum for phonics and decoding instruction.
Writing: Instruction focuses on handwriting, writing process/structure/organization, editing and grammar. Handwriting instruction follows the Learning Without Tears curriculum.
Math: Instruction focuses on number sense, foundational mathematics and arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
I have 10+years of experience working with students with different learning needs. I'm happy to implement a variety of accommodations and modifications to make learning accessible to all students.
