About Carson

Hi, I'm Carson! I'm a nursing student at Grand Canyon University and an after-school tutor with GeniusLab, where I support students in grades 2–7. I help students work through math concepts, strengthen foundational skills, and feel more comfortable asking questions.

Before pursuing nursing, I studied secondary math education. Teaching has remained a big part of what I enjoy, and I love the moment when something finally clicks for a student.

My style is patient, encouraging, and straightforward. I want students to feel comfortable saying, 'I don't understand,' so we can figure out where they got stuck and build from there. Whether your child needs help catching up or you are working through Algebra I, I will meet you where you are and help you make steady progress.

About the lesson

Math makes more sense when you have someone who can slow down, explain it clearly, and help you practice without feeling judged. I work with elementary and middle school students, as well as students taking pre-algebra and Algebra I.

We can work on multiplication and division, fractions, decimals, percentages, equations, graphing, and word problems. Each session starts with what you need help with, whether that is homework, an upcoming test, or a skill that never quite clicked. I model an example, work through another with you, and then help you try it independently.

My goal is for you to understand why the steps work and feel more confident solving the next problem on your own. I bring experience tutoring students in grades 2–7 and adapt the pace to each learner. Questions are always welcome.
