About Beth
Working on skills that students are struggling with does not have to be painful! After 31 years of experience, I have an enormous amount of materials, such as games, puzzles, etc., in the areas of reading, phonics, and math, that can make it a lot of fun rather than tedious. I can provide all materials, but homework help is also an option when needed. I can help prevent the "summer slide", so that students begin the next school year above where they left off the previous year. I am enthusiastic and positive, sometimes, silly, and I like to get to know students on a personal level, as well as them with me. We can make writing activities fun by gearing them toward students' interests, and reading does not have to be boring. There is tons of literature out there that can be very entertaining to read and math games can always make things more fun.

I have twenty-seven years teaching in the elementary classroom in a public school, as well as four years' experience with online tutoring. Adept as assessing students' specific levels and needs through observation and assessment and then teaching towards those needs. I like to make learning fun and engaging, in order to maximize students' attention and success. I believe in positive feedback and praise, and I can encourage students when they are struggling in order to avoid frustration.
