About Scott
I have over 10 years of experience as a flute tutor and enjoy helping students build both musical knowledge and self-confidence. I teach school students, college students, and working professionals through lessons that are interactive, encouraging, and focused on practical learning.
My teaching philosophy emphasizes communication, creativity, patience, and continuous encouragement. Every student has different learning needs, so I personalize my lessons to help them progress comfortably. I believe students achieve better results when they enjoy the learning process.
Besides flute, I teach music theory, rhythm practice, ear training, breath management, beginner keyboard, sight reading, improvisation basics, and performance preparation. These subjects strengthen students' musical skills and improve their overall understanding of music.
I guide students in developing correct posture, breathing, finger coordination, tone quality, rhythm accuracy, and expressive playing. Through regular feedback and practical exercises, I help students become independent learners who are confident in their musical abilities.

My teaching methodology is based on helping students enjoy the process of learning the flute while developing confidence, discipline, and strong musical skills. I use Communication, Accountability, and Integrity as the foundation of every lesson. I believe that a positive learning environment encourages students to stay motivated and reach their full potential.
Every lesson begins with breathing exercises, posture correction, embouchure development, finger placement, and tone production. Once these fundamentals become comfortable, students continue with scales, rhythm exercises, note reading, articulation, dynamics, phrasing, musical interpretation, and performance preparation. I provide step-by-step guidance so students improve naturally without feeling pressured.
Communication allows me to explain concepts clearly and encourage students to ask questions freely. Accountability helps students build consistent practice habits, complete learning goals, and take responsibility for their progress. Integrity ensures that I teach with honesty, patience, fairness, and respect while supporting every student's individual learning journey.
Besides flute, I also teach Music Theory, Ear Training, Staff Notation, Sight Reading, Rhythm Development, Breath Control, Instrument Care, Music Appreciation, Performance Skills, and Practice Planning. These complementary subjects help students develop complete musical knowledge and confidence.
My goal is to help students become skilled, expressive, and confident flute players who continue enjoying music throughout their lives.
