About Alistair

I am an emeritus professor with 4 degrees and extensive teaching and examining experience at several universities in the United Kingdom. I have been in charge of large, multi-programme Study Skills and Dissertation modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. I am the author of books, journal articles and encyclopaedia entries. I have maintained my skills in teaching and communication, both online and offline. I have hundreds of hours' experience as a personal development tutor and as School Director of Student Experience and Research Integrity Leader. I want to share all I have learnt from these 'hard yards' with YOU!!

About the lesson

I offer online one-to-one (or, where practical, f2f) and one-to-several lessons on essay/thesis/dissertation structure and techniques. I also can help you prepare for examinations, oral presentations, project work, and getting published. Happy to read and discuss drafts. Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences and vocational subjects are my main fields of expertise. All levels covered, from HNC, 1st-year undergraduate, sophomores, final year, master's (taught & research), PhDs and other doctorates, up to post-doctoral. I can advise informally on your personal development and career plans. Any country welcome, but tuition is in English language.

Perfect! I contacted Al to get some help analysing qualitative data for my dissertation. He was extremely helpful and provided me with the information I needed to proceed in the right direction. He is really easy to talk to, approachable and knowledgeable. He provided me with what I needed and made the information easy to understand.
