My teaching approach is simple: I cater to the needs of my student. If the student is struggling with verb conjugations, I will help her with that. If she simply wants to improve her accent or vocabulary, I'll focus on that. If a student comes to me and simply wants to "learn French," I will start with conversation basics such as "Bonjour! Comment ça va?" One of my high school students was preparing for a trip to Paris and she really wanted to know how to order food at a restaurant. We looked at scenarios on video for inspiration. Then we did several role plays where I was the server and she the patron. I draw from my materials that I have gathered over the years but also use music and online games that are more current.
Salut! I have been teaching French part time at two local alternative schools for more than 12 years. I have private tutored one elementary, one middle, three high school students and one adult. I was able to help a high school girl do well on her exams and prepare her for a group trip to Paris. I majored in Language Studies where I focused on the French language and also studied Spanish and Linguistics. My year abroad in Pau and Paris solidified my accent and improved my conversation abilities immensely. I recently managed a French student through my work with International Cultural Exchange Services and she described my speaking ability as "génial."
