About Emmanuelle

I am a fully qualified French native teacher with a sunny disposition. I am a former head of French with 25 years’ teaching experience in outstanding state and independent British secondary schools with sixth form colleges and feeder primary schools.

My students’ wellbeing is paramount to me. I am a very caring, patient and supportive teacher with a sunny disposition. I praise my students a lot and am very good at raising their moral. I believe that laughter in the classroom is important to create a relaxed atmosphere in which students are not scared to make mistakes. My students look forward to their lessons. They are at ease in my lessons. They take risks with the language and therefore, they make excellent progress.

During my teaching career, I have transmitted my passion to my students by delivering excellent and fun lessons in the classroom and online. I am very experienced at teaching online because my school went online full time during Covid and I carried on tutoring some of our school students after Covid. I have motivated my students In my lessons by doing songs by French and francophone artists, by organising several residential exchange trips, running a variety of clubs such as French Jive, a film club and a drama club. I have developed my students’s cultural awareness by running a virtual classroom exchange project with a school in France and Africa to bring classes from different countries face to face.
Many of my students have carried on with languages at GCSE and A level and some have gone on to University to study a language.
Having recently taken early retirement from teaching to rectify my life/work balance, I have decided to set up my online teaching business to carry on doing what I love .

I am a highly professional teacher. I plan my lessons carefully and take a lot of pride in them. I liaise effectively with parents. I am responsive and give regular feedback

About the lesson

Introduction:

I offer engaging, supportive and fun one- hour online lessons and tutoring to students of all ability from year 6 to year 13 inclusive, and I also offer adult conversational classes from beginner to advanced level.

I am Highly experienced at preparing students effectively for their end of year GCSE, IGCSE, A level and IB and at conducting speaking examinations. My students make excellent progress and achieve excellent grades in their end of year examinations.

I am highly experienced at teaching students with special educational needs, students on the autistic spectrum and gifted and talented students.

I am passionate about my languages and I see it my mission to transmit my passion for the French language, and to raise my students’s curiosity in the cultures of French and French speaking countries around the world. This is reflected in the resources that I use in my lessons.

I embrace technology to deliver well-structured, interactive and fun online French lessons on Zoom to students and adults of all levels.
My students make excellent progress, improve their grades and achieve their full potential in their end of year examinations.
I keep up to date with changes in education and I regularly attend training and examination feedback courses run by examination boards.

I tailor my lessons to my students’ ability, learning needs and interests by providing differentiated colourful resources, using a lot of visuals and giving clear instructions.
My teaching resources come in the form of interactive whiteboards, PowerPoints, YouTube videos, listening tracks, French songs and language and quiz apps.
I use quiz apps for short starter activities to engage my students, to recap learning during the lesson and at the end of the lessons.
To make grammar more accessible I use a lot of visuals and highlight patterns. I also enjoy making up silly stories around grammar to help my students’ understanding and retainment.
Both my students and I have access to my interactive whiteboard, which enables me to view my students’s work as they are doing it, and therefore, I can give them immediate feedback.
I ensure I plan a variety of activities in the various skills, so that my students can develop their listening, reading, writing and speaking skills.
I conduct my lessons mainly in French and do a lot of fun role plays to build my students’ confidence in speaking.
Being a native speaker is an advantage when teaching French, as my students develop a near native pronunciation.
