I strive to create a calm and open environment so that learning can happen without stress. I often notice that students don't have a problem with math, but rather math anxiety! The first goal is to eliminate that problem.
I have a clear commitment to my students: to meet them where they are, regardless of their level of knowledge, and then chart a path for us to follow toward understanding.
I like to work with exercises and, as issues arise, I explain the content surrounding what is being applied. This way, the student understands how to solve the problem, where that solution comes from, and why it's the way it is.
