The AVID tutoring I participated in focused on the "socratic method" or asking questions to help the student understand the concept so they reach the answer through their own thought process. I try to use that method as opposed to lecturing. I also try to present information in whichever learning style best suites you. I am a visual learner, what kind of learner are you? It really helps to see that problems can be solved in many ways.
