I hold a first-class Engineering degree from the University of Sheffield, have several years of professional experience in the water and environmental sector, and am currently completing a PhD at the University of Exeter.

My approach to tutoring is flexible and student-centred. I adapt my teaching style to the individual student, depending on their confidence, goals and preferred way of learning. Some students learn best through careful explanation, worked examples and step-by-step guidance, while others benefit from getting stuck in, trying problems for themselves and receiving targeted feedback.
In a typical lesson, I will usually begin by identifying what the student already understands and where they are getting stuck. I then explain the topic clearly, work through examples, and give the student opportunities to practise with support. I aim to build both understanding and confidence, rather than simply helping students memorise answers.
Lessons usually last between 40 minutes and 1 hour, although I am flexible depending on the student’s needs and concentration span.
I have experience teaching a wide range of learners, from KS3 maths students through to undergraduate biology students learning geospatial methods, and I have qualifications linked to teaching in higher education.
