About James
I'm a graduate Materials Engineer from Exeter University and am currently studying a Masters in Nuclear science and engineering at Bristol. I also train jiu-jitsu and lift weights to keep fit. After my Masters, I'm planning to work as a materials engineer for the UK Atomic Energy Authority, where they are working on harnessing energy from nuclear fusion (something we'll learn about if we study Physics together)!

I'm a Maths and Physics tutor (A level and GCSE) with three years of tutoring experience with goals varying from achieving a 4 in their target subject, to gaining a place at their favourite university. Having completed my A levels 4 years ago, I remember the stress and problems vividly! Our sessions will be around an hour long and focused on a particular aspect of a topic (e.g. integration, differentiation, summation). Stripping the topic back until we find what it is that you struggle with and then working to understand the concepts, before completing lots of examples and practice questions. We'll occasionally do review sessions and complete past papers to see what we understand and what we need to work on more. It's not how much you learn, it's how much you remember that's important! Fundamentally, we'll be focusing on understanding the concepts and approaches to solving these problems, rather than memorising steps in a solution.
