About Roshan
My name is Dr Roshan Priyantha de Silva, and I am an educator, engineer and researcher with more than 40 years of experience in teaching maths / civil engineering / IT. I have taught in Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom and Singapore, working with students through lectures, laboratory classes, fieldwork, research supervision, online learning and private tutoring.
I want to teach because education has the power to change young people’s lives. Many students begin with doubts about their ability, especially in mathematics, science and engineering. I enjoy guiding them patiently, showing them that difficult ideas can become clear through simple explanations, practical examples and encouragement. Seeing a student gain confidence, solve problems independently and believe in their future is one of the greatest joys of teaching.
For me, teaching is not only about passing exams. It is about helping young people develop discipline, curiosity, confidence and hope. I want to use my long experience, professional knowledge and modern digital skills to support students so they can achieve better lives and contribute positively to society, in school, university, work, community, voluntary service and life.

Though heavily experienced in teaching, always experimenting with ways in which current students learn and hence possess a wide variety of ways to cater to different learning needs of different students. Lessons last 1 - 2 hrs and cater to GCSE / A level / University and adult learners. Holds a BSc (eng) Hons, MSc, PhD and a PGCE and have lecturing/ tutoring experience, in UK (20 yrs), SL (21 yrs) and Singapore (1 yr).
