About Sam

Hi! I’m Sam, a 22-year-old Master’s student in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Bath. I’ve been teaching since I was 16, starting out as a sailing instructor. More importantly, I’ve been a student in extracurricular settings for even longer — with regular lessons in music, sailing, tennis, swimming, and languages throughout school. Being exposed to so many different teaching styles showed me that the connection between tutor and student is key to truly effective learning. When that mutual understanding clicks, progress becomes natural and enjoyable. As someone with ADHD, I know that reading textbooks and taking notes doesn’t work for everyone. I’ve found that talking through ideas, asking questions, and solving problems together can be far more effective — especially for students who learn best through discussion and active engagement. That’s how I learn, and it’s how I teach. While I may be younger than some tutors, it hasn’t been long since I was in school myself — so I understand the system, the pressure, and what actually helps.

I tutor Maths, Physics, and Computer Science up to GCSE level — subjects I studied at A-level and continue to use daily in my degree. My lessons usually last around 45 minutes, but I keep things flexible. Some days you might not be feeling it, and we can wrap up early. Other times, you might be locked in and want to go longer. Either way, I’ll adapt to what works best for you on the day. If that sounds like a good fit, drop me a message — I’d love to have a quick chat and see if we’re a match!
