About Louis
I am a computer science masters student at UCL, with a bachelors in chemical engineering. Both my degrees are very maths-heavy so I am constantly refreshing and updating my maths skills. I first started tutoring four years ago, and I've had great success with all my past students.

I believe in letting the student lead the class, so the first question I will always ask in a lesson is "what maths topics are you struggling with at school this week?". This allows any worries that my students have to be quashed before we move on to new or more difficult concepts, and means they will always go back into school the next day feeling confident and caught up on the current topic being taught. I believe this is important as a large part of being a successful mathematician is being confident in your abilities. This also gives my students the chance to ask for any help on their homework that they are struggling with. Once any immediate topics of concern are solidified, we will learn ahead of the class with the current topic being taught, so that: 1) Your child will be confident going into class, already having a good background knowledge of the topic being taught, and... 2) Your child will be learning topics twice, therefore being able to fully take in and understand the maths being taught. I like to end my lessons with a piece of homework for the student to complete, however for students who are already struggling with their homework load from school I tend to leave it up to them if they'd like to receive coursework from me. I've had great success with my friendly and approachable teaching method with past students, and I'm confident that I can help your child to feel confident in their maths abilities as well!
