About Michael
I have a PhD in civil engineering, bachelor's degree in computer science and obtained educator certification in mathematics grades 8-12. Currently, I teach engineering as a professor and use mathematics and Java programming extensively in my work.
I have been tutoring since 2010 including math and programming, both in-person and on websites including Cramster.com (precursor to Chegg).

- I focus on scaffolding to the main concept through example/conceptual problems that match the student's knowledge level.
- Typical lesson: I'll start with defining the learning objectives (e.g. concept from class or a homework problem). I'll identify student's knowledge level and gaps through example problems. I'll design or choose appropriate problems to address gaps.
- During college, I studied high school education for 3 years, including student teaching, resulting in educator certification. I have experience teaching classes at levels ranging from 9th grade to college seniors.
- I'm open to tutoring high school and college students.
