About Sean
Hi! My name is Sean and I have just finished my first year studying Engineering Science at The University Of Oxford. I particularly enjoy studying Engineering Mathematics (calculus, differential equations, linear algebra etc.)
At A-level I studied Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry, where I achieved A*A*A*A*.
Having only recently done GCSEs/A-levels/Uni Admissions myself, the process is still very fresh in my mind, and I can certainly relate to any difficulties or struggles which current students are facing!

My teaching approach:
>A good baseline knowledge of the theory is key to academic success. At the start of every tutorial I will spend time with the student to ensure they are confident with the fundamentals.
>Practice is key! Once the concepts are grasped, past paper questions are critical to cementing understanding and anticipating what will come on up the exam.
>Simplifying concepts: Maths and Science can be intimidating and confusing. I have always found it helpful to break concepts down and try and look at them from different angles. From my experience, the textbook doesn't always explain things the best way!
What will my lessons look like:
>Before the lesson, I will ask the student to send me any questions/theory they would like to focus on in the tutorial.
At the beginning of the session, I will start by asking them questions about the topic to gauge their level of understanding.
>Once I feel they have a good understanding of the content, we will progress to practice questions. I will use an online whiteboard such as Miro to work through the material, initially working together to help build confidence so that the student can start tackling them independently.
Experience:
>While I have limited professional experience of tutoring, I have done plenty of casual tutoring through helping at school, with friends and family etc. and would love to be able to teach more students!
I am able to provide tutoring in Maths/Physics all the way up to A-level, as well as preparing for Engineering University admissions.
