About Arthur
Hello! I'm Arthur, a second-year Engineering Science student at the University of Toronto. I've been intrigued by math since I was a kid as I genuinely find it to be beautiful, and that passion has never faded. In my free time, I like writing math articles and code physics and mathematics simulations.
Throughout high school, I attended the TOPS program (Talented Offerings for Programs in the Sciences), where STEM courses were taught at an enriched level. That environment pushed me to go deeper into the subjects I love and gave me a strong foundation in math, physics, chemistry, and computer science.
I've been tutoring in one form or another since Grade 8, when I started helping classmates through math club. In Grade 12, I returned to tutoring more seriously both publicly at Proton Learning Centre and privately with some American students. Those experiences taught me how to adapt my teaching to different learning styles, backgrounds, and comfort levels.

I like to guide students through a topic by asking questions that might seem simple at first, but gradually build toward the bigger picture. By the time we reach the harder stuff, you'll realize how easy it is to understand as we built the foundation together.
I'm a big visual thinker, so I use tools like Microsoft Paint to sketch out my process in real time and Desmos to sort of bring math to life. Seeing math, aside from just writing it, can make a huge difference.
Math is a genuine passion of mine, and I want my students to walk away understanding why something works and how everything connects. I care about fundamentals, and I'll make sure you really get them before we move on (if you're in a rush and have a test coming up though, don't worry we can speed up the pace). I make practice homework sheets myself and tailor it specifically to my students' needs.
What I Teach
I teach all math from Grade 9 through Grade 12, and university-level math (I would say I specialize in Calculus). I also have a strong background in physics, chemistry, and programming (Python, Java, C) at the high school level, having taken AP Chemistry, AP Physics, and AP Computer Science myself.

Fair warning: I might go on the occasional tangent about how beautiful a concept is, but it will be well worth it!!
