To all students seeking a tutor, we share common ground. We all seek knowledge. I am a strong believer that it is my duty to share all the knowledge I have to those who seek it, as should everyone. My lessons tend to stimulate the student's critical thinking skills and encourage him/her to search for solutions.
Over a course of an hour session , an appropriate plan would be as follows :
10 min of pure explanation to absorb the student's full focus in the beginning.
10 min of direct applications to test the understanding of the objectives.
20 min of problem solving exercises to enhance the student's critical thinking and problem solving skills.
10 min for a summary of the explained objective and a Q&A.
The final 10 min will be random depending on the session and the student's request.
Patience is a key in tutoring; thus I find no difficulty in repeating an objective countless times in different ways and perspectives in order for the student to grasp the idea. Moreover, I find myself flexible on time limits and the session ends when the student ultimately nails the objective, not when the clock ticks.
The lessons target mainly middle school students (Grades 7, 8, and 9). I teach Math, Physics, and Chemistry. I can also teach high school Physics and Chemistry (mainly Grade 10). All students, ranging from struggling ones to excelling students are more than welcome.
